Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ben Lam first discovered his passion for animation through movies like Beauty & the Beast and Lion King. After studying the fundamentals of art and 3D animation at a local art school, Ben began his animation career as a 3D animator at the Passion Republic Animation House (Malaysia) in 2006.

In 2008, Ben continued his studies in animation at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco and completed his Master’s degree in two and a half years. His award-winning thesis short film, The Wanna Be Oddie, earned many awards and nominations such as California Film Awards- Gold Awards, Los Angeles Movie Awards- Award of Excellence, Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood- Best Animation, Nashville Film Festival- Official Selection, and Savannah International Animation Festival- Official Selection.

Currently, Ben is an art director and show creator at The Base Studio in San Francisco. He works on several original content productions and provides design solutions to many clients, including Symantec, Apache Hadoop, Breathometer, Metallica, Usher, and Katy Perry. Through his artistic creations he strives to bring joy, entertainment, inspiration to all of his audiences.
